| The history of the Wiesbadener Casino starts at the end of the 18th. Century. Royalty, Musicians and Authors were amoung many prominent guests: Fjodor Dostojewski often wagered his royalties here. The dutch author Multatuli (Eduard Douwes Dekker), Richard Wagner and Elvis Presley all put their luck to the test in Wiesbaden. | Emperor Wilhelm II. loved Wiesbadens architecture and promoted the erection of beautiful buildings such as the main Railway station and the Spa house. The Spa house was opened in 1907; it was partially destroyed in the second world war and then rebuilt and restored to its prevoius beauty in the 1980s. The games hall for the table games is today one of the finest rooms in the house: filigree woodwork, golden friezes, rare wood and crystal chandeliers combined with the wonderful charm of neo-classical designs provide the room with a special atmosphere. |
