The game of Roulette, which probably hails from China, was made socially acceptable by the French citizens’ and intellectual movement in the 17th and 18th centuries. The name Roulette derives from the French word “roue” (small wheel) and is a reference to the heart of the game: the rotating disc of the Roulette wheel. This ingenious precision instrument contains 37 pockets (zero and the numbers 1 to 36) alternating between red and black or green (zero).
Bets are placed using 37 numbered boxes on the felt-covered table. The guests place their chips on their selected numbers or combinations of numbers, on red or black or also on even or odd numbers. When the dealer announces “no more bets“, the betting is closed. The dealer throws the ball into the wheel in the opposite direction to the rotating disc and the ball begins to rapidly circle the wheel before becoming slower and slower and then reaching the decisive point and falling into a numbered pocket. A truly fascinating game!
Roulette is considered to be the fairest casino game in the world. Indeed, around 98% of the bets placed are paid back out, which amounts to several million Euros at our Casino. So good luck and "Faites vos jeux" ('Place your bets')!
